helen steele

'strawberry fields for ever'
Education: City and Guilds BA in Art and Design-Burke College, South Anne St, Dublin.
Helen Steele is fast emerging as one of Ireland's top abstract artists. Her work has achieved critical acclaim in both Europe and the United States. Her techniques and insight are totally unique. The following work is an ongoing investigation into the influences of change on the unconscious. It's a semi-spontaneous response to remembered images of the unconscious. The colourful, diverse textural surfaces are loose and unordered.
‘I run, drip and razor blade the paint to create 3-dimensional surfaces.
These techniques allow abstract forms and images to emerge and melt in the imagination.’

barbara mcgivern

'one red square'’

Candian artist Barbara Mc Givern's qualification: Art's sake, followed by the Toronto Scool of Art and the Ontario College of art, AOCA, SCA finishing in 1988.
Her work is defined by a rich exoticism. Evident in the luxurious hues, opulent gold
and evocative interpretation of the subject matter, Barbara is an artist who enjoys the formidable challenge of converting real image into abstract forms.
The size of her work is ambitious as is the detail which she incorporates into each canvas. The results are vivid, stimulating and often controversial and are designed to move spectators and embolden walls, they spark a reaction wherever they are positioned.
